The past a few years have witnessed a rapid growth of TV talent shows in mainland China's TV channels. The talent shows enjoyed their widespread popularity not just because they brought about a new trend of grass-root spirit among the public, but also gave ordinary people possibilities to change their fate by harvesting great fame and fortune as long as they had extraordinary talents that meet the standard of our time. However, the state administration of TV broadcasting, fearing that the increasingly overheated talent shows will mislead the mass in beliefs of value and success, has announced a restriction on them since last year, especially at prime time in broadcasting. What do you think of this phenomenon? Do you think the talent shows should be favored and encouraged or be reduced and properly supervised? Express your view in not less than 150 words.

Whether the talent shows should be encouraged or reduced? This is a divisive topic. People who support it often see themselves as fans of one or another show star. They believe that the TV talent shows can change one’s fortune. At least, they argue that, the programs offer the opportunity to show and develop one’s talents. On the contrary, a number of people hold the negative attitude to it. They maintain that the TV talent shows today are like rivers that have risen to their flood level. They mislead the youth and make them believe that they can make a fortune or become famous overnight. As a result, a lot of students can’t calm down to study in the show’s season. 1. On my personal level, the talent show is a superb means of relaxing and amusing and can hugely relieve our strains. As college students, however, we could not afford to indulge in them and should be aware of the utmost importance of studies.

2. For my part, I believe that the TV talent show is like a double-edged sword, which can do both good and harm. Therefore, it is extremely important for us to face it properly. For one thing, the TV studios are supposed to create more positive and favorable shows. For another, the media ought to guide people, especially the young, to right way and refrain from exaggerating the effect of the show.
